You will never be idle on a visit to Drumshanbo with its multitude of activities for visitors of all ages. Within the town itself there is the food hub with the famous Drumshanbo Gin Distillery, Lough Allen Adventure Centre on the shores of the lake, Moorlands Equestrian Centre, Heated Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts and Childrens Playground. Nearby is the Arigna Mining Experience, Keadue which is the location of Turlough O Carolan’s final resting place, Drumcoura Equestrian Centre in nearby Ballinamore and for those fond of the great outdoors, take a hike on Sliabh an Iarainn on one of its many looped walks or a gentle walk along the canal to Leitrim Village on the award winning boardwalk or see the water from a different perspective with Stand Up Paddling.
The nearby town of Carrick on Shannon is only 15 minutes by car and with its variety of cafes, museums, galleries and riverside, its easy to spend an afternoon or two wandering about.
Leitrim is abundant with waterfalls with the spectacular Glencar Waterfall a 30 minute drive away, closer to Drumshanbo less than 10 minutes by car lies Scardon Waterfall, located on Kilronan Mountain. The views from Scardon of Lough Allen are memorable.
